Hi, I’m Isabel Carmen
Curly + Balayage/Color + Extension Specialist
I have been doing hair for as long as I can remember. With curly hair myself, I learned how to switch up my styles and looks. I was obsessed with doing my dolls, barbies, and mom’s hair at a young age, and started styling my own hair at 6/7 years old. This love for hair taught me to be resourceful and opened my curiosity to the everything hair related. In addition to hair styles, I was also drawn to hair color, make up, and fashion. I knew early on the Beauty Industry was where I was meant to be.
Right out of high school I enrolled in the Cosmetology Program at Citrus Community College, which included taking courses in hair and make up. My participation in their program taught me the ins and outs of the world of beauty, and catapulted my dream to grow my talent and open up my own salon.
The last few months of cosmetology school I worked as a receptionist at a salon that I later assisted at. I dove right in, no breaks, no stops, ALL IN! Thankfully, I landed in the right salons at the right times, learning from extraordinary stylists and mentors. On top of the hands on experience, I continued to expand my education by taking color, cut, style, and business courses. All of these things combined lead to a passion for teaching, which resulted in me working as a Color Educator for L’Oreal Professionnel for a short period. Not long after, I became a Lead Stylist and the Assistant Color Educator for my HOME salon, TANGLES. I learned and gained so much through teaching by absorbing how others receive information, process it, and ultimately, create. I was fortunate enough to mentor amazing assistants that became marvelous friends and extremely talented artists. The opportunity made me realize my path was to continue to support, love on, guide, and create more of these tremendous relationships with stylists who possess incredible passion, talent, and heart.
So much more happened between now and then, but that was the start. Although it’s been in the works for the past 16 years, or perhaps my entire life, those experiences birthed TEN ONE SIX SALON. I root for my team; they are such beams of light. We are eternally blessed to have one another and are each other’s biggest fans.
